His research interests include mainly refractive errors, trying to understand the principal causes of lens prescription (myopia, hyperopia and presbyopia). Has performed prevalence studies of refractive error in Argentina. And has collaborated in the calculation of crystalline lens power for studies in different countries (Norway, China, Singapore, USA, India and Iran). Has been following both clinical and basic research on myopia for the last 20 years, and has began treatment in children and adolescents with progressive myopia using diluted atropine drops. Studies risk factors for myopia development, such as outdoor exposure and reading or computer use habits. Studies the contribution of crystalline lens power in myopia and hyperopia. Continues studying eye growth form infancy to adulthood, trying to understand how normal vision is achieved, or presbyopia and cataracts are developed.

Chief ophthalmologist at Breyer, Kaymak & Klabe Eye Surgery in Düsseldorf, Germany. His early research on myopia dates back to 1994. In 2021, he published a study that measured myopia management effectiveness by comparing myopic patients' axial length growth rate with the emmetropic growth curve, making him one of the first researchers to introduce this new standard. Building on this new concept, Professor Kaymak developed the AMMC module: a novel and effective tool for monitoring myopia progression  and effectiveness of the myopia management treatment. We interview him about his perspective on measuring the success of myopia management and the AMMC module.

Professor Schmetterer is the Scientific Director and Head of Ocular Imaging at SERI. His research interests span a wide range of imaging from development of novel technology towards applications in preclinical research and clinics. Professor Schmetterer is also interested in clinical trials and is involved in many studies in retina, glaucoma, cornea and dry eye.

He has published more than 300 peer reviewed publications; was invited for more than 200 lectures, including more than 15 key note lectures; and been awarded more than 35 million SGD in research grant funding. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of Progress in Retinal and Eye Research, Scientific Reports, Acta Ophthalmologica, Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Current Eye Research and five other journals, as well as ad-hoc reviewers for more than 40 journals.

MD, PhD, FEBO, is Professor of Ophthalmology Head of Ophthalmology Department with pediatric subspecialty and ocular surface at University Hospital Necker-Enfants malades and Paris University in Paris.

Head of Paris Orthoptic Department, affiliated to INSERM UMRS 1138, Team 17 Research Unit, in innovation therapy. Her activity is distributed in clinical practice, teaching and research.

Current practice includes pediatric anterior segment, ocular surface, strabismus and oculo-plastic surgery as she is also graduated in maxillo-facial surgery. She contributed over a hundred and seventy peer review publications in the ophthalmic literature and more than fifty book chapters.
